Staying well and fighting off illnesses does not have to be expensive. In fact, everything you need to stay healthy naturally can be found in things you probably already keep stocked in your home. Many people think that all they need to get better is to go to the store, buy some medication and hooray! You feel well again! When you choose natural remedies you don’t have to leave the house, let alone spend a ton of time trying to figure out which drug you need from the pharmacy.
Onions
Onions are great immune system boosters. One of the best ways to help your cold is by taking cold syrup made from honey and onions. The mixture consists of onion slices covered (steeped) in honey for a long period of time (usually overnight). Mix the onions and honey thoroughly and then leave it alone overnight. You should take a single spoonful of the onions and honey every three or four hours and after a few days the cold should go away. Adding some onions to your food every meal is another good idea-they blend in to the taste of just about everything.
Garlic
Getting rid of your toxins is easy when you eat garlic. To get better quickly, take 1500 mgs of garlic a day and wave goodbye to your cold! One clove of garlic has about 500mgs in it. The easiest way to get the garlic you need to get better is to either take a supplement or to cook a clove of garlic into your food three times a day. Thankfully adding garlic to your meals is easy and garlic is incredibly inexpensive-keeping garlic cloves on hand is easy! Taking in the extra garlic is great but don’t keep the regiment up longer than five days. If you still show severe cold or flu symptoms after five days, call your family doctor.
Steam
Steam is good. Instead of spending lots of dollars on sinus medication, take a long hot shower or bath. Steam opens up your sinuses and allows you to breathe and clear out buildup. You will get better rest when your muscles are relaxed-something that the hot water in your bath or shower will help with. If you don’t feel like taking a bath or shower, heat up some water on the stove in a pot and then (after moving the pot of water to a table) put your face over the water and drape a towel over your head.
The towel helps contain the steam and move it toward your face as well as helping the water stay warm for longer periods of time. This will help relax your sinuses which will make it easier to clear them out when you blow your nose.
